It turns out that it’s equally as vital to exfoliate the entire body, in order to reduce the chance of the occasional breakout on other parts of your body. Exfoliating will also help to reduce the appearance of age spots, minimize large pores, smooth out elbows and knees, prevent ingrown hairs, and smooth razor bumps. While body scrubs are a great way to exfoliate, but they can be riddled with harmful ingredients. Green tea has a ton of restorative properties, and this delicious scrub is very simple to create. Begin by emptying 2 green tea bags into a bowl and mixing it with 1 cup of white sugar and a half cup of soft or melted coconut oil. You may adjust the amount of coconut oil you use depending on how dry or oily your skin is, but keep in mind that the exfoliant will be harsher the less oil you use. To give the scrub a rich, natural green color, consider adding some ground freeze-dried edamame beans, but this is an optional step.
This richly scented scrub is perfect for some autumnal indulgence. Gather 2 cups of brown sugar, one cup of white sugar, 2 tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice, and 1 cup of vegetable oil and combine in a bowl. Once you’ve combined all the ingredients, pack the scrub into an airtight jar.
Bananas can provide moisture while helping to control oil, which makes them great for parts of your body that are prone to breakouts. For this scrub, combine 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and a quarter teaspoon of vanilla in a bowl -- but avoid over-mixing, as it will thin out the scrub. This recipe is for a single-use, but if you want to make a larger batch, make sure to refrigerate it between uses.
This scrub is particularly invigorating, and is best used in the morning or after an intense workout. Combine a half cup of sea salt with a half cup of coconut oil. Add a teaspoon of citrus zest (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, or a mix of them) and combine in a container. This is also a single-use recipe, and while it will keep for a few days, it is definitely better when made fresh!
This recipe creates a scrub so luxe that you’ll feel like you’ve transformed your bathroom into a spa. This scrub calls for one-and-a-half cups of granulated sugar, ¾ cup of coconut or almond oil, 10 drops of Rose essential oil, 1 vanilla bean, 1 teaspoon of vitamin e oil, and 2 small roses, finely chopped. Combine the ingredients in a mason jar, and you have a luxurious product that also makes a fantastic gift.
