Self Care For The New Year

2018 is just about over and a new year is starting soon. As we sit back and reflect on the previous year, we should also think about what great things we are all going to do in the new year. Self care should be on everyone's list because "me time" is something we all need a little more of in our lives.

Self care doesn't have to be expensive and you don't always have to leave the house. Self care is all about you, so do something just for you and no one else. It's not selfish, and it feels pretty good! Another thing about self-care is that it's different for everyone. What works for you might not be what works for me, but I'm always up to trying something new! Read on if you'd like to know my most favorite ways to unwind and treat myself to a little self-care.

  • Taking a long bath or shower is one of my most favorite ways to get some me time in. Sometimes I treat myself to a nice bath bomb, but that's not always necessary. I love adding lavender essential oil to my bath water or on a washcloth in my shower.
  • Turning off my phone and grabbing a good book is something I need to do more often. You can grab a magazine too if you want! I love to get in bed and just read without any distractions.
  • I love treating myself to a spa pedicure every once in a while. I don't get them often, but when I do I feel recharged and relaxed afterwards.
  • Binge watching my favorite show or finding a new show to veg out on feels pretty darn good sometimes believe it or not. Sometimes, when work or life is just too hectic, I love wasting a day parked on the couch and doing nothing but snacking and watching T.V.
  • Slapping on a face mask and doing an extra long skin care routine is one of my favorite ways to practice self-care. Sometimes I'll double mask and slap on ten different serums. There is something about a long routine that really feels good to do!
  • Treating myself to a shopping trip is nice once in a while makes me feel really good about myself, especially when I buy something I'd normally not buy for myself. I probably did this once this past year, but think I need to sneak a few more trips in this coming year.
  • Getting in the car and taking a long drive down a scenic road is something I use to do all the time, but haven't in a while. It really helps me relax and take a mini breather from life. I'll turn up my favorite songs and rock out by myself and arrive back home happier than I was when I left.
