Two Blush and Highlighter Duos to Glow All Fall

Written by:

If you are familiar with me or my blog, you know how much I appreciate a serious glowing cheek. To me, nothing lights up or brightens a look quite like a really pretty blush and highlight duo. Even with minimal makeup elsewhere, this combination helps to achieve a fresh, healthy look.

To really amp up the dew factor, I love using cream products on my cheeks. Not only does a cream product help you glow, I think that they can also look more natural on the face than any powder alternatives. They are also perfect for a quick makeup look - all of the below products can be applied on the go, with a couple quick taps of a finger.

Golden Coral

I love warm peaches and coral shades on the cheeks - so pretty and romantic! Throw in some very fine golden shimmer, and you’re ready to light up the day or night. For this kind of look I absolutely love Smashbox L.A. Lights Lip & Cheek Color in Silver Lake Sunset. It is a twist up sort of chubby stick applicator, with the product on one end, and a flat sponge-y blender on the other. To apply, I usually go straight from the applicator onto the apples of my cheeks (the center - the part of the cheek that puffs out a bit when you smile), and then tap in circular motions, blending out with my middle finger. This shade is a gorgeous warm coral with golden flecks, and I think it pairs beautifully with a pale gold highlight.

Yes - let’s talk about my favorite pale gold highlight! One that I have been using for months now is ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Lunch Monday. Not quite a cream but definitely not a powder (in my opinion), this product applies beautifully with a finger. It has a kind of bouncy consistency that is easy to pick up, and is really easy to blend out over cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes (one of my favorite places to apply highlighter!), really, anywhere you want a bit of extra glowl.

Pink Champagne

If I had to wear one blush for the rest of my life, it would be Le Metier De Beaute’s Creme Fresh Tint in Mystique, a stunning muted pink that melts onto cheeks and creates to most beautiful lit-from-within pink glow. Can you tell I’m obsessed? Again, to apply, I take a small amount (a tiny amount is all you need with this!) onto my middle finger, and tap in circular motions on the apples of my cheeks.

My favorite highlight to pair with Mystique is a blushed-pink champagne, opalescent cream from rms beauty - Champagne Rose. I haven’t found a product quite like rms’ Luminizers; nothing makes my skin look as naturally dewy in all the right places. To intensify any look even further, I love adding a bit of Champagne Rose to the center of my eyelids whether I have zero shadow, or something neutral like a bronze or gold shade.

And, there you have it! Head over to instagram to share your favorite blush and highlighter shades, and let us know if you’ve tried any of the above!
